The layout under process
Process Summary
Our goal:
Each of our layouts ultimately tells a story. All of the final details help to bring that story to life. Having trains run on loops is one thing, combining that with the realistic miniature environment around them creates context for the trains to live in. In the end, the details help to make the whole layout become more interesting and more interactive for everybody to look at.
What we do:
In this phase of our process, we combine multiple skillsets and tools to bring the realistic or fantasy scenes to life. Details like mountains, bridges and buildings, etc. are either built from scratch or digitally produced based on their level of complexity and convenience. Sometimes, we design our own custom models (doorways, railing, bridges, subway kiosks, etc.) and have them replicated and painted over.
Tools we use:
Laser-cutter, 3-D printer, acrylics paints, Styrofoam, Photoshop, Sketchup and Internet research, etc.
